In a challenging economic time, Kellogg employees and retirees across the U.S. united together to help those in need.
The final companywide total for our record-breaking 2009 United Way campaign was $5.9 million. This incredible total is $900,000, or 18 percent, more than our goal for the year.
"I am very proud of the way that Kellogg people once again stepped up to support this campaign," says President and CEO David Mackay, this year's United Way Executive Sponsor. "These are difficult times for many children and families in our communities, and broad support for United Way has never been more critical."
Twenty eight communities will receive funding, thanks to generous employee and retiree pledges as well as the company's dollar-for-dollar pledge match. These funds come at a time of unprecedented need in our communities, as many families struggle to provide the basics including food, health care and shelter.
Five Kellogg locations had a year-on-year increase of more than 50 percent – Cary, Clearfield, Florence, Muncy, and Rome. Here's a location-by-location tally of our 2009 United Way results:
