Three employees enjoy a smile at the San Leandro, Calif., plant in 1981 This was the ninth Kellogg cereal plant when it opened in July 1952 to "speedily serve the West Coast." Approximately 250 people joined the new plant that year, at an average wage of $1.52 per hour, to help the company produce Kellogg's Corn Flakes® , Rice Krispies® and Kellogg's Raisin Bran®.
In 1981, an employee watches Sugar Corn Pops® on the line at the Omaha plant. Today more than 26 products are made in Omaha, including Special K® Red Berries, Smacks®, Smart Start®, Frosted Mini-Wheats® and Corn Pops®.
Checking a product in 1985, Omaha plant employees gather for a "photo op." Kellogg initially opened a plant in Omaha in 1943 at 26th Street and then moved to its current location in April 1965. Today's plant produces more than 1 million pounds of product daily.
