Further expanding its earlier recall, our company issued a precautionary nationwide recall for two varieties of Bear Naked All-Natural Peanut Butter Granola that contain potentially salmonella-tainted ingredients from former supplier Peanut Corporation of America (PCA).
Specifically impacted are 12-ounce packages of Bear Naked All-Natural Peanut Butter Granola and Bear Naked All-Natural Peanut Butter Granola with Heavenly Chocolate with a "Better If Used Before" date prior to Feb 01, 2010 and the following bar codes on the package: 8-5641600100 and 8-5641600185.
These products are being recalled as a precaution because they contain peanut pieces sourced from PCA's Plainview, Texas, plant. The peanut pieces have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
As with the products Kellogg previously recalled, consumers who have purchased these products are urged to destroy them. To date, there have not been any illnesses reported in connection to these products.
PCA is no longer a supplier to Kellogg, and none of our other products are involved in this latest recall.
A searchable database of recalled products can be found at accessdata.fda.gov. Learn more about salmonella at www.cdc.gov.
