Adding DHA omega-3 to your diet is one way to keep your brain healthy. And now Kellogg is introducing a new product to help you get more DHA omega-3 on a daily basis.
Kellogg's new Live Bright brain health bars are made with DHA omega-3 to help support our brain health, much like calcium helps support our bone health.
"New Live Bright brain health bars are an easy and delicious way to add this important fatty acid to your diet," says Dr. Perlmutter, who is also serving as a spokesman for the product launch.
Fish is the main source of DHA in the diet, but fish consumption is low in the United States. Live Bright bars, with 100mg of DHA omega-3, contain five times more DHA than most Americans consume each day.
" Live Bright bars help put brain health in your hands with 100 milligrams of DHA omega-3 per bar," says Jennifer Garrett, Director, Nutrition Marketing. "These bars represent our company's ongoing commitment to help consumers take charge of their health and well-being."
DHA has been promoted for infant brain and eye development over the past several years and awareness among mothers of young children about the importance of DHA has grown. The baby boomer population is also showing a greater interest in products that may help support brain health as they age.
Live Bright bars are made with Martek's life'sDHA, a vegetarian source of DHA omega-3 that is produced under well-controlled conditions and that does not have the risk of mercury contamination associated with some types of fish.
These portable snack bars are available in two flavors: Dark Chocolate Vanilla and Double Chocolate.
Live Bright brain health bars will be available in the health-supplements aisle of grocery stores in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit and Houston starting in October 2008. They are also available now at www.Amazon.com.
