Kellogg S&I fund profile:
Stable Income Fund
The Stable Income Fund is one of the investment options available to Kellogg Company Savings & Investment Plan participants.
Stable income funds, also referred to as stable value funds, are fixed-income investments designed to preserve – but not guarantee – principal while providing stable returns. They are considered conservative when compared to other types of investment options offered in 401(k) programs.

Experts encourage investors to review their asset allocations regularly – and they say there's no better time than now to make sure you have a plan in place to monitor your investments.
You may have already seen the most recent edition of Invest: It's Your Future, which was distributed with S&I Plan participants' most recent quarterly statement. The publication – a PDF of which you can download at right – provides information about monitoring and rebalancing your portfolio.
Consider your choices
The S&I Plan offers a full range of investment fund choices, with multiple fund managers represented. There are nine core funds and two pre-mix funds – the performance and results of which, it's important to note, are not guaranteed by Kellogg.
You may allocate your investments among the funds in minimum 1 percent increments, as long as they total 100 percent. Participants can make changes or reallocate their investments at any time.
Your investment mix should be aligned with your long-term retirement goals. If you haven't identified what those goals are, you should work with your personal financial advisor to establish a sound strategy – which will make it easier for you to make investment decisions in the future.

You can look in the "Check Fund Performance" section for independent reports from investment research firm Morningstar Inc. The reports contain a complete analysis of each fund and its performance against benchmarks over various periods of time.
An overview of one of these investment options, the Stable Income Fund, is provided in the sidebar to the right.
