Thirty-four U.S. Kellogg locations to hold food drives this week

In April, the company announced plans to donate an entire day's worth of cereal production – more than 55 million cereal servings – to Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger relief organization.

Mid-June, Kellogg employees and retirees had an opportunity to make an individual impact in the fight against hunger by participating in food drives at 34 Kellogg locations throughout the U.S. It's all part of a major, multi-phased Kellogg campaign to increase awareness and raise funds to fight the growing hunger epidemic in this country.

"As a company, not only do we feel that it's our responsibility to give back to those who have been hit hard by the economic downturn, but we're also trying to provide our employees with the opportunity to help this important cause as well," says President and CEO David Mackay.

Food banks are experiencing an average increase of 30 percent in the need for food assistance, as one in eight Americans currently struggle with hunger.

"Our donations will provide critical sustenance for food banks as they are challenged to keep up with rising demand," David says. "Together, we can make a significant impact for families in our own communities."

Kellogg Company has been a committed donor to Feeding America since it was founded. Over the past 10 years, Kellogg has donated more than 224 million pounds of food to Feeding America.
