Five truckloads of Kellogg product donated to Gustav relief in Gulf region

Visit FeedingAmerica.org

Kellogg has donated five semitrailer loads of our products to aid those impacted by Hurricane Gustav in America's Gulf Coast region.

The contribution, spearheaded by our Remarketing & Returns Management team, includes Pop-Tarts, Special K bars, a variety of crackers and fruit-flavored snacks. They are being distributed to Gustav victims through our longtime food-banking and disaster-relief partner, Feeding America, formerly known as America's Second Harvest.

The hurricane, which made landfall Monday, September 1, effected thousands of residents of Louisiana, Mississippi and other areas of the Gulf Coast. Flooding, wind damage and widespread power outages occurred as the storm cut a path across the Southeast.

Feeding America is coordinating its Gustav relief efforts with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and American Red Cross.

During the past five years, Kellogg has actively supported the victims of numerous natural disasters including the tsunami in South Asia and Africa, hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the floods in Mumbai, India, and last year's wildfires in California and Montana.

So far this year alone, Kellogg has made a quarter-million-dollar contribution to the earthquake relief efforts in China as well as a $100,000 donation to Feeding America for disaster-relief planning and preparedness. We've also donated three truckloads of product to help flood victims in Iowa and storm victims in the southeastern United States.

Kellogg's charitable donations to Feeding America and its network of more than 200 food banks in times of crisis are consistent with our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which we live and operate.
