Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund has granted $250,000 to support disaster-relief response efforts of Feeding America, formerly known as America's Second Harvest, and its nationwide network of food banks. In addition, $100,000 was granted earlier this year for disaster-relief preparedness.
Kellogg has also donated a total of 24 semitrailer loads of product to Feeding America to help with disaster relief for victims of Hurricanes Ike and Gustav, and the Midwest floods earlier this year.
"Natural disasters devastate entire communities," says Celeste Clark, Senior Vice President, Global Nutrition, Corporate Affairs and Chief Sustainability Officer, and Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund President. "Kellogg is proud to partner with Feeding America to provide financial and in-kind assistance to help people in these communities rebuild their lives."
Feeding America works in cooperation with local organizations and federal, state and local emergency management agencies when disasters strike.
"Knowing that disasters can strike anytime and anywhere, Feeding America has developed a strategic plan of action to respond to disasters. Our infrastructure for distribution of food and relationships throughout our network of food banks makes us uniquely prepared to respond quickly when tragedy strikes," says Vicki Escarra, President and CEO of Feeding America. "We are extremely grateful to Kellogg Company as we would not be able to sustain a comprehensive disaster relief program without generous grants like this."
Earlier this year, Kellogg's Corporate Citizenship Fund made a $250,000 contribution to the American Red Cross for the earthquake relief efforts in China.
Kellogg's charitable donations to Feeding America and its network of more than 200 food banks in times of crisis are consistent with our ongoing commitment to supporting communities in which we live and operate. |
