Dear Retirees:
In April, at our Annual Shareowners Meeting, we announced our plans to donate an entire day’s worth of cereal production to Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger relief food-bank network. Our donation of 3.5 million pounds of cereal amounts to more than 55 million servings. Cereal is especially needed at food banks because it is convenient, shelf-stable and nutritious.
The donation will provide critical sustenance for food banks across the country as they are challenged to keep up with rising demand. Network agencies are seeing an average increase of 30 percent in the need of food assistance.
We’re also encouraging consumers to do what they can to help. Beginning June 17, consumers can visit www.kelloggs.com/feedingamerica. If they donate $5 or more to Feeding America, Kellogg will give them $5 in coupons toward their next purchase of Kellogg’s cereal.
In addition, the company will sponsor food drives in June at some locations where employees and retirees may donate food items. More detailed information on the specific sites will be provided in the near future.
I know that Kellogg retirees have big hearts and will be eager to be a part of this important effort, and I’m happy to be able to share this information with you through our retiree website.
As we continue our tradition of corporate responsibility and giving back to our communities, I know you’ll join me in feeling proud of our company and our heritage.
Thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
David Mackay
